OK, parents are out and I've never really cooked anything other than a bit of spaghetti bolognese! Anyway, I raided the freezer and found some bacon chops, had them before and they're nice, but a bit salty. To go with it I'm going to do some sautee potatoes.

The plan:

  • Defrost the bacon in cold water for ~1Hr (any ideas on how to do it quicker?)
  • Stick the potatoes in a pan and boil them for about 5 mins
  • Pour the boiling water into a pan and steam the potatoes for another 5 mins
  • Put the bacon on a hot skillet with some oil- do about 5 mins a side
  • After the first side is done, add the potatoes to the skillet so they should both have about 5 mins

Sound like a plan? Only worry is that the potatoes are normal roasting ones...

Bit inconvenient right now, but it's about 1.5" thick. I'm sure as hell gonna take a picture when it's done though, I'll be proud of it if it works!

Done- t'was delicious!

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty proud of that!

You should be mate, looks real nice. I had marmite on toast for my dinner.

Although I was cooking when I was about 8. So hang your head in shame

:p

Lush - that looks awesome :)

/edit - I'd personally like the wedges a bit more cooked/browned but epic work nonetheless

Cheers guys! It was real nice, the bacon was pretty salty though as expected! Only issue was the big bit of fat running down the middle- made everything pretty difficult to cut, even with a steak knife!
