Okay, so I have been living in Australia for a few months now and recently moved to a new apartment. My last place I moved in on my own and then my friend moved in with me afterwards (was her place she owned, but didnt want to live there, dont ask!). Basically all the cooking ingrediants in the house were mine because I had to fill the kitchen from there being absoloutly nothing in there! Long story short, I left all the cooking ingrediants herbs spices etc for her to keep (minus my very expensive bottle of red wine vinegar, tobasco sauce and some olive oil).

So yesterday I had to go food shopping and buy everything again, basically the essentials, so it got me thinking. What is everyones 'essential' cooking items? I mean like top 5..

My top 5 cooking ingrediants which I can't live with out are:

1. Garlic
2. Tobasco or fresh chili
3. Olive oil
4. Canned Whole Tomatoes
5. Pasta

So what ingrediants does everyone always like to have in their fridges?

What does it say about you? I guess for me I just have these items because you can whip up an amazing pasta dish with these!
 
1. Onion
2. Something Meaty..... this could be mince, chicken, tuna or anything!
3. Cheese
4. Fajita Seasoning
 
In no real order

Olive or sunflower oil
Garlic (either fresh or paste depending how lazy I am)
Mixed dried herbs, adds a nice flavour boost to almost anything
Meaty goodness... mince beef/turkey/lamb or chicken breast usually
Cheese... love the stuff, shame its like 99% pure badness!

Oh and onion too... cant live without onion!

Oh and beer, did I mention beer? :p

I usually eat all of the above (apart from the beer... drink that ;)) every day

Nice choice of stuff, im just left wondering what you could actually make with all of those :D

Not necessarily to be used each time, but something that I always have in the fridge/freezer.
 
mine would be

nice loaf of bread or tortilla wraps
eggs
mushrooms
tea bags lol (n a dash of milk)
some sort of meat/protein source..ham, chicken, beef (steak!!!!), fish!
