I'm sat in my computing room at 8.45. Been here since 8.20 Because of the stupid busses from my girlfriend's house are early as ever... Anything to do to whittle away the time until 9? I know OCUK is a sure bet. Any other suggestions?
Also Zefan, I know it's early but if you read this, get your fat behind into computing today, I cant be bothered with Mike on my own.
Quote from Mike: "You must use ASPX for everything and I'm the master of all things computers and am better than everybody yet I only got a D in my A-level Computing hence why im RETAKING it all."

^^^^ That's basically what this kid is like. Anybody else know anybody who thinks they know everything about computers yet when it comes down to it.. Fails miserably.<-- (sp)

Ok, Rant over, It's too early is all
OO that wasted 5 minutes...

Recently one of my customers shouted at me.

She said that I was wrong about a pop3 email account. She said she didn't know what pop3 was but I was wrong.

As she was getting worked up I just acted dumb and went along that she was correct and I had made a mistake.

Most people think they know it all about computers. I fix them for a living and I would never say I know it all. Stick me on a Linux command prompt and I would be stumped.

yeah, but pointlessness comes from having nothing to do. Well im on the break in computing now after and hour of Operating system concepts and interrupt handling.. (mostly over my head but im sure i'll manage).
He is sat next to me boasting about his graphics cards. Death.
hmm 20p 150ml Dr Pepper. Makes the day go faster.

Woe is the IT industry.

I just ignore customers like that, they will only drag you down to their level of dumbness.

Agreed. I work Saturdays in a local computer shop, serving customers, answering phones, providing Tech support and fixing PC's and the like.

Customers who, no matter what, believe they are right about something and also customers who believe you can buy a brand new high end gaming machine for about £300 make me want to swallow a 12 gauge.

I do tune it out at about lunch time though.

One of the best things I've heard

Customer walks into the shop (SP Computers). Which has advertising on it's windows such as "We Repair Computers".

Customer : "Do you repair Watches?"
James : *Mutters* "What does it ******* Look like?!*

Little things like that. Lack of common sense makes me despair.

FULLY star out swear words. FF.

Lol, I work at a 'big PC store' and have had someone come in an ask where the Air Conditioning units are

When we replied that unfortunately don't sell Air conditioning units as it is a computer store...and they refused to believe it and demanded to speak to a manager about the lack of service

I have had that too!

I had one guy ask me: "So... do you repair cars as well?"

Cars?! CARS?!?!?!!!!1ONEONEONE I nearly laughed in his face when I said that I only fixed PCs.

He refused to believe me, because I had a sign above my shop that said "Technical Engineer". He missed the line above that one which read: "Computer and Peripheral".

He threatened to take me to trading standards as well. Heck - I even gave him the number for them!! Never heard from him or Trading Standards. Ho hum.

Hahaha!

The asking silly questions is great!

With people being a tool on a PC they can't help it unless ti is a hobby, so that is why there is a IT industry!

Never had one quite as bad as that, but once had to show someone exactly what I did, took me 2 days to do, then it took me another 2 days to do it infront of them, so I invoiced them for 4 days. :p

Only silly thing I have ever encountered, he wanted to see where he was spending his money, so he paid 2x for the job. :p
