Silly question perhaps, but is it possible to cool the CPU too much? My CPU temp is currently 9c, core temps go down to 25c (idle).

I guess the answer is NO, as some people stick their CPUs in Liquids to freeze them, but..

the core IS your cpu. unless you're using chilled water or better, you're cpu isnt running at 9c lol.

anyway the answer shoudl be no. certain cpu's do have cold bugs where they dont opperate correctly below a certain temp, but that usually 10c or lower. peoepl use phase change or even liquid notrigen to cool the cpu to even -50c and below.

This is a 6600 CPU, so yes, I think the CPU temp and core temps are different.

The machine is cooled with air, but is in a cold room, hence the low temp.

that is not possible unless you got ice in your water cooling and in a fridge lol. seriously that's mad

the core is the cpu! a 6600 has two cores which normally read differently by +/- 3c or so. what are your case temps? because the cpu will never be below the ambient temps on air. never.

I would post some screenshots, but unable to link to images, for some reason.

Easy Tune 5 reports the system temp as 19c, cpu temp as 9c.. but like you said, it might be wrong..

TAT is reporting the cores around 25c - this goes up to 35 when the weather is warmer.

it is possible without liquid/phase.. there are threads over at XS with people doing sub zero air cooling but they're all in russia/canada lol..

pc on window sill, -15 outside would do it..

still, I'm being awkward, I don't think there's much chance of that being accurate in the UK.

I dont think you can damage your pc by ovecooling. A website i know used liquid nitrogen to cool the cpu and showed the temprature in the negative celsius range and wasnt just -1 or -2 was double figures. :)

Perhaps your motherboard is fitted with the Abit Fatality Bullpoo feature? I think you be wise to treat these readings with a certain amount of scepticism.
