This is starting to get on my nerves, I use coolbits to overclock my 7900GS and it saves the overclocked frequencies, however every so often when I check them, they are back at stock settings? I have set "Apply this on startup", Why the hell is this doing this?!

<Edit> Was meant to post in the overclocking & Cooling forum! </edit>

are you not confusing the 2d/3d clocks? Also, are you using any other programs to alter the clocks like rivatuner or maybe GPUs own program like winfast? Can have this kind of effect. Only other thing i can think is that if you keep changing clock speeds you might have to check the apply at startup every time

Thanks for the reply, I am deffo not confusing the 2d/3d bit - however what I have noticed is the memory clock is always the same, if I change the 3d memory clock, it changes the 2d memory clock too, only the GPU core speed stays at stock on 2d clocks.

I just installed riva tuner as I was going to try that but I dont like the app. I was using a very old copy of the registry entry for coolbits and have just used a new one which has given me loads more options (not that I will be using them). So hopefully this will sort it.

I am deffo sure the "apply at startup" box is always ticked when I have changed the frequencys - or do you mean each time I change them, untick the box and apply settings then tick the box again and apply the settings again?

No i just meant that each time you apply new clocks, that the apply at startup box unchecks itself. It sounds like something the nvidia drivers are doing. Yes the 2d/3d mem clocks stay the same as each other. If it was me i would uninstall the drivers, run driver cleaner and then install the latest nvidia drivers. You can sometimes get problems like that if you have nvidia drivers installed but then just install new ones anyway.

Even more annoyed now, I set the clocks to desired overclock, ticked the box and applied settings, went back in to the frequency tab and all was well, rebooted and it had reset them to stock again! Did the same thing, rebooted again and back to stock :@!

I have the latest drivers for my 7 series card and haven't updated them on this windows install (clean install few weeks ago).

Looks like I better try uninstalling the drivers :(

For heavon sake! I uninstalled forceware drivers, rebooted into safe mode, ran driver cleaner, rebooted and installed latest nvidia drivers, changed frequences, ticked the "Apply on startup" box, rebooted and they are back at stock!!

Use riva tuner after you set a clock or fan speed you click save then apply at startup
