Cooler advice

I want to cool a Phenom ii x4 955 and since that is an AM3 chip I assume that the cooler must be AM3 or will AM2+ be ok

Which cooler less than £40 ish would you advise. I do not intend to overclock much but may tinker a bit. Total novice so need one that is easy to fit and relatively idiot proof

Yeah AM3 and AM2+ is effectively same socket as far as coolers go, theyre same size and spacing, Id look at the sunbeam core contact personally, more than competent, one of best in fact, a titan is slightly better at cooling but is quite noisy, the sunbeam gets my vote

Thanks for the info but I cannot find many coolers that specify AM2+ or AM3 many say AM2. Can anyone confirm that a cooler designed for AM2 will or will not fit an AM3.

I have a Sunbeam core contact cooler on my 940, it keeps the temperatures at idle to 35c and under load it goes up to 46c.
The one on OCUK states it will fit AM2 & AM3, mine is an AM2+ board.
