Cooler and ram problem

Finally ordered my new pic bits the other day and I'm struggling to make it fit.

I got a Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom CPU Cooler, Gigabyte Z87-D3HP Intel Z87 and some Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz memory.

The space between the memory and cooler is rather a tight fit.

Wondered if anyone else had run this combo as the fan on the cooler is right above the ram and I'm a bit concerned if I build like this I will get heat issues.

Oh and the cooler has got to be the worst cooler I've ever tried to fit I should have just got a h100.

Yeah I did try that and it will fit just it's like 1-2 mm from the ram.

After having a glass of red wine I've realised I could just put the fan on the opposite of the cooler block.

So might give that a try as I had to reset the cpu cooler anyway as someone forget to plug in one of the power cords ahem.

I have an old h60 on my oc'ed i5-3570k and never going back to air.
System looks better on water and you have a lot more space.
Oh, and you dont need to use headphones with max vol to actually hear anything over fans :-)

Even with the fan sitting a few mm from the ram stick, it will be grand and wont affect cooling at all. Persevere with it as it's an excellent cooler. Much better than a closed loop unit.

Been tearing my hair out getting this to work still.

Pc wouldn't post and after lots of faffing and swapping out gfx, memory and going back to the stock cooler it's the memory.

Now according to the motherboard manual dual channel=sticks in same colour.

If I attempt to boot like this the machine will not boot.

If I just stick the memory in slots next to each other eg 1+2 or 3+4 it boots fine.

For dual channel you need 1+3 or 2+4
If your PC is not booting like that something is wrong...
did you update the bios?
reset your bios

I already had this problem before most of the time a bios update solved it, but one time was the Memory itself that was not working in dual channel

I have recently built a system with the components you have listed and although space is tight it should all fit.
As Stulid said put the RAM in slots 2+4. Also you should be able to adjust the fan up or down to accommodate.

I shall be starting another build tomorrow with said components so i can take some photos if you like.:)
