Hi there,

Consider me a complete novice at pc building. I had a little dabble in it when I was younger so I know what goes where but I'm clearly missing something here.

I bought a gigabyte b450m gaming motherboard and a ryzen 5 2600. I checked ************ and there should be no comparability issues but the heat sink and cooler it came with has springs holding the screws up far too high to reach the screw holes. They match up, they just don't reach. You can see what I'm dealing with here: https://images.app.goo.gl/WniBM9zUAdgPVpc2A

The holder that comes with the mobo didn't had clips that had nowhere to latch onto on the cooler so I took them off.

Thanks all

Mike

There should be some longer screws either in the motherboard box or with the cooler. They will likely be hexagonal when screw threads on the end to go into the board.

It should fit no problem, I'm guessing you've taken the brackets off the board next to the CPU socket, you should then only have the back plate left with the motherboard
