My nice new Corsair TX650 has decided to give up on me only after 4 weeks so i'm looking to replace it with a similar spec and price unit and have come up with the Coolermaster silent pro gold 700w modular Psu..

PSU is installed and it is completely silent even under load, No squeels no fan noise just silent. I'm really immpressed with this Psu and glad I choose it. It has some serious heatsinks inside which you can just about see in the photo. The Piggyback Pci-e cables work perfect and save running extra leads.

It just looks horrid, I have a case window and would be embarrased to see a bright green fan shining through. :D

I have bought the Coolermaster 700w if it turns out to be crap it can go back. Hopefully it will last longer than the just under 4 weeks the corsair managed..

The Coolermaster Gold PSU's are very good units and are highly reliable :)

The gold PSU will give better efficiency too.

Excuse me for sounding dumb, but how would you see the fan? is the PSU at the bottom of the case with the fan facing upwards?

Yes. I can having it facing up or down but prefer it facing up as the hole in the bottom of my case is quite small and it has a restrictive filter.

When you fit a PSU you should have the fan at the bottom of the PSU not the top.

Exellent the coolermaster should do the job..

In my case the hole in the bottom is quite small and covers some of the fan. I have tried both ways and notice no difference in temps either way tbh. There is a 140mm and a 120mm fan blowing air directly into the psu and Gpu so it gets plenty of air..

The only reason facing it up would be a bad idea is the fact it would be fighting your GPU fan for the same air, and possibly bringing in warmer air.

If it doesn't affect any temps in your case though then I don't suppose it would matter too much.

I received the Cooler master silent pro gold 700w today. I have not powered it up or installed it yet but the quality of the unit is superb, I dare say it feels and looks better than the corsair. It weighs a ton at least another half of what the TX650 weighed. Only downside I can see is the Modular leads are quite short and the 6 pin PCi-e conectors are piggybacked with the 8 pin ones. But there is support for 3 gpu's using 2 sets of power connectors each..
Will fire it up later and see how it goes. The TX whirred and buzzed a bit running fur mark so will see how the cooler master does..

glad your happy with it Chris, coolermaster have some great psu's and its only their low end stuff that isn't top notch.

i had their igreen 600w before the seasonic x-650 i have now and it was a cracking psu and i'm sure yours will be also.
