after just starting out with this overclocking business, i was unsure whether to upgrade my cpu cooler, was looking at the arctic cooling freezer 7 pro, but im unsure if its any better than my exsisting thermaltake TR2, i noticed the CFM was less on the arctic??? Dont want to change for changing sake and not obtain any benefits, i have read reviews and am aware the Arctic is a good cooler.

The arctic freezer is a very good cooler for the price, used to use one on my q6600 which it coped well with up to 3.4ghz.

2 x 120mm its your call really on what you prefer, the noctuas are very good but not everyones taste looks wise, sharkoons also good, tbh you'll get a million and one different recomendations, go for what you like the look of

I use a freezer on my E6600 but I had to mod it before I was happy. I had another one upstairs & took the fan off that one & strapped it to the back facing the right way to Pull air through assisting the push fan in front, Behind it I have an 80mm fan in my case exhausting it out the back, this set up is the Best air set up I've had & my temps are Unbelievable on air.
So...
It's only a Fair cooler without mods but can be Easily modded into a Great cooler given a little effort.
To buy again I'd still choose the same as my Mobo has copper pipes & rads all over it & getting one that fits without hitting anything else woudl be a gamble of buying & trying.
For anybody else I'd say buy summit else that does the job better out the box.

got no pipes or rads on mobo, so it should fit easily enough, currently got 2 x120 Xilence case fans front and rear and i have a spare 80mm, will i need thermal paste???

Thermal paste is needed with any new cpu cooler - many say you also need some sort of cleaner to remove the old paste. The Sunbeam core contact comes with paste, if that helps swing things - by the way, I swapped my arctic freezer pro for a Sunbeam, and have slower fans speeds, less noise and cooler temperatures now !

ever heard the saying measure twice cut once??? well my thermalright has arrived but i dont think it will fit my case :(
any one know what the narrowest case this will fit into??
Dont want to open it up unless it will fit
