Coolermaster Cosmos and ATCS 840: Good cases?

Hey guys,

I am considering buying myself a Coolermaster Cosmos Black case (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-181-CM)

Was just wondering if anyone had used this case, or the normal Coolermaster Cosmos.

It looks like a very good case, with some excellent cooling.

Good idea for this case? Sorry if I ramble. Not slept for a while.

This isnt overly helpfull but one of my old hosuemates had one of these and its a Monster of a case size wise.

Ever considered the haf 922 or 932 or is the styling not your thing? £170 to me, has always seemed a bit much for a case.

Styling is a big horrible for me sadly. I like plain and simple. And black. Haha. Also, I need something pretty wide to fit my Megahalems (my current case is having problems cooling my i7 as I lack good cooling).

Built two i7 4GHz workstations for out office using the normal case. I must admit cable management is difficult. You can't route cables behind the mobo tray as there isn't much depth with the door on and there's a vertical support which is really in the way.

The benefit of these cases is the built in sound deadening and the size allows for decent and quite cooling capabilities. They're also built very well.

Personally I feel a £100 Lian Li would be just as good as it would take up less space as it won't have the ridiculous handles, the cable management is easily better and they have some trick little features to prevent vibration.

Single chamber full tower Lian Lis have good cooling... unlike in some cases hyped with big money:
Going from the PC-B70 to the Raven, I GAINED(!!!) about 7 to 10* Celcius on my CPU temps using the same TRUE 120 + 2x Noctua push/pull setup.
...
My CPU temps in the RV02 are on par with the LL PC-B70, which to date has been the best air-cooling case I've used.

With cramped complex airflow of original corrected Raven 2 has also direct airflow from fans...

And you never have to worry about fitting long graphics cards:

And black. Haha.

Cosmos (RC-1000) is rather lacking in HDD cooling department and especially for being intake limited internal airflow could have lot better control because of primary internal airflow direction is quite much away from hottest components in rear thanks to top fans.

This hasn't made it any easier. Haha. Does anyone know, if the Cosmos will have enough space to house a Megahalems in it easily enough?

The reviews on here for the Cosmos seem pretty good, as do some other reviews I have read for it on some sites. It seems to be big enough to allow good airflow, and offers enough fans to give good air intake etc.

It's just such a shame, that there aren't a lot of plain, simple cases =(

Anyone else got something they can recommend as having very good cooling, and good looks also?

Anyone got any idea what the Corsair Obsidian 800D is like?
Designed for water cooling...
It's intake limited and at stock practically lacks airflow control.

the Cosmos... and offers enough fans to give good air intake etc.
Its only intakes are one on bottom and another throught that very restrictive HDD compartment. (and top fans draw air from the latter straight out without it having change to cool main components)

Coolermaster ATCS 840 Classic Case.

Good cooling, plain styleing, better cable mangement than the cosmos & much more sturdy than cosmos

That looks like a nice case. Good size also. And a LOT more fans it seems. I like look of that baby =D

It seems to be pretty wide, which is what I need also.

Is there anyway you can reconfigure the top fans to be intake fans on the Cosmos?
Having both of them as intake probably wouldn't work that well because of case having then only one exhaust but using for example cardboard for making tube forcing rearmost top fan to draw out air from rear of the case (above CPU heatsink) and tubing air from frontmost top fan (as intake) to CPU heatsink/GPU area would give better airflow for cooling these components.

Yeah. I think this may be the one. It has plenty of fans, lots of space, removeable motherboard tray etc.

Seems to be very nice. Anyone else think the ATCS 840 would be best to go for?

Edit: Still trying to decide what to finally go for. Either a Coolermaster ATCS 840, or a Cosmos S. Leaning more towards the ATCS 840 however, because of the fan options.

Anyone with a Coolermaster ATCS 840 care to comment on how good it is?

I have just got this case and I agree with the above comments, cable management isnt too hot at all and I have had real problems with that, its by no means neat in there.

The case itself is very very quiet and I kind of like the brushed aluminium look (I didnt go for the black case) but it is an absolute monster in size and that suprised me a lot - I knew it would be big but not that big!

Also the rear peripherals shield (sound ports, USB ports, keyboard/mouse etc) did not line up correctly with my ATX motherboard so I had to remove it, that was annoying as now I have a nice hole there.

The power supply also sits at the foot of the case rather than at the top.

All in all I'm very happy with it, but as said above cable management is a bit of a problem and that hole!

I have owned the cosmos sport (cosmos sport has a lot better cooling than the standard cosmos) for a couple of months now and i think it looks fantastic, the build quality is superb as expected. Cable management can be a bit of pain but im more than happy with mine and think it was well worth £160.

Edit: I must admit that i would have went for a silverstone TJ07 if i had the money.
