Coolermaster GX650

Hi, I am on the verge of upgrading from my gtx460. I have the power supply listed in the title and I am wary whether it can power a more powerful card. I know this sounds stupid because you think 650w should be fine but there is a lot of reports of these PSU's being very week and rippling starting from 400w and above. I cant really afford to buy a stronger PSU as well as a better graphics card at the same time.

And help much appreciated.

What card are you looking at getting?

The PSU gets a reasonable review, can't be to bad to a award:

The gtx 570 I have seen draw huge amounts of power compared to the 6950 though. Before I got the gtx 460 I tried an ATI 4890 it worked for a day then wouldn't boot I put it in my friends PC and it worked fine? :s

Looking at some other reviews it seems that Coolermaster changed the OEM which supplied the parts for the PSU, but not sure when though, reviews were June last year.
When did you purchase the PSU.

Not sure about why the GPU only run for a day, that would not of stressed the PSU at all, but the PSU should power the cards mentioned above without issue.

I bought the PSU last January, yeah it seemed strange, no matter what I tried it wouldn't power it back up. The 4890 is only 190w as well and the cards I am looking at are all 200w and above...

Your just a few months after the Hardocp review, you might of had the poorer OEM in.

As you seem wary of that PSU it might be prudent to change it for a model which you feel confident in using and not worry about possible issues.

There are two OEMs for the GX650. Seventeam and Enhanced, depending on the model number (RS-650-ACAA-D3 / RS-650-ACAA-E3). They seem to review differently.
