I am having a really hard time finding a compatable cooling system for the 1156 socket! I think there are a lot of similarly frustrated people out there with the release of the i5. Can we start a list of:

1) 1156 Cooling units and

2) Adapters for the 1156 socket.

Much appreciated!

Several of the Zalman coolers on the OcUK shop website are compatible with this socket mate.

The CNPS10x Extreme and Quiet, also the CNPS9900 works to, Scythe Ninja II Rev.B, Coolermaster Hyper TX3, Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 and Alpine 11 Pro all support LGA1156.

::edit::

LoL, got beaten to it!

I bought the Coolermaster Hyper TX3 as a cheap fix until I found a suitable permanent solution that I would feel ok OCing with.

Are any of the above solid buys from user experience? Or should I wait for more options to become available?

I'm told that the new Scythe coolers that were shipped to the UK last Friday are all S1156 compatible, so if you shop around you may be abl eto find places that have the new Scythe coolers. The Mugen is a very decent cooler indeed.

And how is it performing?

I'd wait. Unbelieveably, all the cooler manufacturers seem to have been caught with their pants down on this launch and I got my local engineering fabricator to make me up a Megahalems mount. It works almost as well as my 120mm custom water setup that I was using in the i5 overclocking thread.

Don't go with an Asus Pro if you're going with a Zalaman CNPS10X as the transistors above the CPU housing stop the fitting of the plastic cooler clip.

I have the above on a non-overclocked i5. Idle i'm seeing 33 degrees, load testing i'm seeing 63 degrees.

It's fitted on this motherboard

The problem is the board is pritty small, and if I fit heatsink the correct way it foils the memory. The fan is fitted on the wrong side to air-flow in my case, and can't be helping temps to much. Otherwise I think it's a good heatsink, I have the rev 1 on an old Core2, and this version is easier to fit to board (no forcing it into place!)

Just a quick warning for everyone, a couple of days ago I purchased the Zalman CNPS9900LED (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-036-ZA&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395) for my new i5 rig as it is advertised on ocuk as being compatible with LGA1156 boards.

Well long story short, it isn't. It only comes with mounts for 775/1366 boards so now I'm stuck with a useless cooler. -_-

Having a quick look at the Zalman site, it's actually the CNPS9900ALED that comes with the LGA1156 mount.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the mount separately? It's listed on the Zalman site as one of their products but I can't seem to find anywhere to buy it.

Actually I am still waiting for the lot of it to be delivered from OcUK! *Paces back and forth impatiently* I am going to need a new game to test things out with any recommendations? Is Far Cry 2 a good game to benchmark off of?
