Cooling for the Geforce 8800GTX

im using the thermalright on mine and its runing at 50 idle and 55 load before ot was running at 68 idle and 70+ on load and even with the fan on full its quieter than the stock cooler i recommend this solution but it can be difficult and picky to install it correctly

But you do realise that this is just a heatsink don't you? Or did you build a fan on it? If so, what size was it? (In millimeters)

Got an HR-03 Plus on order.

Look to be the best presently... if you don't mind losing a few pci slots! :)

Aye, I'm planning to only use one Geforce 8800GTX, so losing one isn't a problem for me! :P Oh and what about you, you're also planning to build a fan on the HR-03?

my advice is make sure you check when you install it so that it hangs beneth your card when the case is upright or else it will get in the way of your cpu cooler

Ye I was also wondering, do those click thingies (to attach a fan on the heatsink) come with the heatsink? And what size do they support? 80mm, 120mm or even more?

I highly recommend the HR-03plus which is what I am using for my GTX, shaved almost 30C off temps with a 120mm fan. The HS is designed for 92mm fans but you can strap a 120mm fan on easily with cable ties which improve cooling as the fan is now wide enough to blow down onto the memory heatsink also.

A thread I posted awhile back when I first got the HR03 for the GTX with pics.

Dont get the heatsink if you have a lot of PCI cards tho as it requires some space depending on how its mounted.

Can I ask why? The HR 03 Plus was made to use 92mm fans

Thanks for the information guys! But why does a 120mm fan cool better than a 92mm fan which also fits better? So what fan do you recommend, a 92mm or an 120mm fan?

its designed for a 92 so go with the design spec
Ye I know it is, but does the 120mm fan cool any better than a 92mm fan? I found a pretty decent 92mm fan though, what do you think about it?
RPM: 2000
dB: 23
CFM: 36

EDIT:
Found a 120mm fan with 220CFM!

Id get rid of that link if I were you :p And, thats a Delta. You better watch out so ** pc doesnt take off when ** turn ** pc on. Also, check the thread with the Delta experiments :p Quite amusing.

But there is a (big?) difference between a 120mm fan and a 92mm fan? I know that the 120mm fan doesn't fit on the heatsink, that's why I could use ZipTies (when needed) :) But is it better to let it perfectly fit? Sorry for the annoying questions but I need to be sure. :P
