Cooling GFX Card with broken Temp Sensor

Hi,

I'm building a new system and have been given an RX480, it seems the built in temp sensing on it has gone, the card will boot and run his PC until it shuts off when the temp gets too high.

What is the most cost effective way of saving this card?

I thought I could get a motherboard which has a 2 pin temp sensor and then use a fan header and set up a profile? (I can't seem to find a mobo with this facility?) maybe not looking hard enough.

I am wanting to build a cheap home office machine capable of a bit of gaming, so a Ryzen 3 2200G (G in case I can't sort this card issue) and Ideally a 450 chip set mobo.

What would you do? stand alone controllers etc seem expensive?

Cheers.

It is strange that the sensor would be gone and yet it does require heat to build up for the card to stop working.

Are the fans on the card working properly?
