My new rig will most likely be housed in a Lian Li PC-7 or equivalent. I'll have 3 HDDs - 2x 36 GB Raptors in R0 and 1x Caviar SE 250 GB. I've thought of the following for possible cooling and sound dampening solutions:

1. Raptors both in Silentmaxx enclosures and the Caviar in the lower HDD tray with the fan for cooling.

2. All HDDs in the lower tray, with Akasa silencing mats around the inside of the case.

3. A combo of 1 and 2.

Which method would you choose, if any? Cheers!

I would choose option 4. For quietness don't use raptors.

The best would be to totally suspend the disks in 5.1/2" bays using elastic. This completely seperates the drives from the case, getting rid of pretty much all noise. Google it.
