Is it normal for the pump to be a little noisy on this cooler I have 2 akasa apache fans on the radiator in a cooler master ATCS 890 case the pump is the loudest thing in my case can’t hear the fans just the pump buzzing away is this correct or could my eco be faulty?

I have only had it about 1 month below are 2 recordings too with my HTC HD2 phone so you can get an idea of the noise

Hi Pinola,

That pump is definitely too noisy and out of spec, yes you should RMA it.

Just to be sure though, please make sure that the pump is NOT plugged into a regulated fan header. It should only get 12v so plug it into your PSU or into a header on your motherboard that is not regulated.

Cheers Barrolde I have tried both still the same also according to the motherboard the pump is spinning at about 4500 rpm is this correct

Yep - that actual speed of it is half that though. Had to do w/ the pump reporting TAC 4 times per revolution and fans only doing it twice. Normally the pump was originally designed to be plugged into one of our control boards where we expect 4 reports / turn but your mobo is only expecting two reports so it well reporting double.

Either way, if you can hear it over other things its too loud and should be RMA'd. The ECO pump should be VERY quiet. Perhaps audible if you get close to it but definately not annoying. Suggest you RMA w/ your point of purchase.

Regards,

Barry
