Hi guys

I am looking for concrete coping stone sealant recommendations.

I have used coping stones to top off a low retaining wall, however as they are grey they are dusty and will stain clothes if sat on.

What I need is a sealant to protect the stones and add some protection for clothes. Ideally the sealant would be clear and without altering the colour of the stones.

Any ideas?

Thank you

I have tried that, but because the concrete is quite porous, it leaches onto clothes. I don’t mind a little bit of dirt, but this is dark grey concrete dust.

Watered down PVA glue will do it - 1 part PVA 4 parts water iirc

But test somewhere inconspicuous first as it can obviously change the appearance of stonework leaving a slightly shiny finish

Or try SBR (waterproof latex) its very similar to PVA, but it is waterproof once dry?
We often use it to seal porous concrete blocks before sticking tiles to them.

Watered down PVA is a pretty standard way to seal anything concrete, as you've found it'll forever release dust, there's no washing it off as it just produces more until you seal it.

imprinted concrete drive sealer is what i used on out coping stones, did not alter the colour any that i noticed
available in colours or matt or gloss

Have been using Floorseal products for a few years. Never let me down yet.
