Hey guys,

Ive just bought a new hard drive for my other halfs PC as the current/old one was noisy as hell. She currently has Windows XP on the system but has managed to lose the installation CD over the years.

Im basically looking to replace the old hard drive with this new one but I was hoping I could simply copy/paste the data from HDD 1 to HDD2.

Is this at all possible?

If not what can I do? I don't fancy buying a new windows CD/license as she doesn't use it a huge amount and would end up being a waste of cash.

Thanks in advance! :)

Awesome.

So I install that software onto the new hard drive, boot up the PC and then use it to copy paste?

1. Install it on the old drive
2. run a backup to an external drive
3. create a recovery disk
4. install new hard drive
5. run recovery disk
6. restore backup from the external drive
7. run monthly backups to your external drive

Or install to old drive
connect new drive to old pc
run macrium to clone old drive to new drive
replace old drive with new drive
