hi -
let me just state this first

I AM NOT ASKING ABOUT COPY PROTECTED MATERIAL SO NO FLAMING

my auntie got married recently and had her wedding video shot proffessionally on a really nice camera by a very expensive pro cameraman/wedding photographer

the video arrived yesterday on a dvd in a nice looking case with a lightscribed disk - all good so far
she asked me [because im 'good with computers'] to make 8 copies of the disk for family members etc

so i load it up into nero and the bugger has write protection on.

i guess its to make you order additional copies from the guy himself

is there any way i can get past this

perhaps a program to rip it to divx or something that ignores copy protection.

way i see it is that my auntie owns her wedding and not that guy so he shouldnt be charging her £15 for each additional copy

any suggestions for programs? preferably free?

if its protected, its illegal to break it. its the very nature of breaking copy protection that makes it illegal. if the photographer wanted you to copy them, he wouldnt have done it.

im sorrry, but we cant help you with that here. The forum rules prevent it.

alright thats cool - only reason i asked is becasue i dont ever copy anything [apart from the odd cd for my car] - i was just thinking that £15 for additional copies when the guy has charged her over £1000 for a video and a few photos is a bit on the steep side!

i just didnt think he had the right to copy protect subject matter that he has been employed to document.
