Copy Windows XP from "XP Mode"?

Seems that you can use File/export to backup one or all virtual machines.

Isn't the xp mode drive just the .vhd file I seem to remember? Copy that to the new device and it should pick it up? At least it thats how it used to work I recall been a few years since I used it.

(vhd = virtual hard drive?)
