My 64 boot time is aweful, it halts at the GUI for ages,

if i was to get a samsung 64gbs (or similar) could i transfer windows/ boot files over??

or would it mean a fresh install?

thats all:confused:

will that leave the old windows files on my current drive??.. or are they easily removable?

my barracuda takes 180seconds from button to vista :(... with quickboot enabled lol, i would hate to see it without.

That's horrendous - a system like yours should boot in 30-45 seconds so something's clearly wrong somewhere.

If you want to install an SSD as your boot drive, and move your HDD over to large apps/documents, after installing Windows on the SSD you'll need to reformat the HDD if you want to get rid of Windows completely. I had to do this the other week because the files are protected.

Fresh install is the best option.

I recently found myself reinstalling windows quite a bit, so I wrote myself a couple of batch files that basically save my program settings and restore them on the fresh install. Keeps things like browsing history as well as preferences. It's not pretty but it does the job. If you're interested I'll post the code.
