Wanna buy a bigger faster drive 250gb or so and use my old drive for storage of mp3s etc question is can i copy the whole of my old drive onto my new drive and use the new drive as my windows boot disk without having to reinstall? if so how and what software do i need?

norton ghost does stuff like that but a freeware program called HDCopy does it too I think. Not sure what OSs are supported though.

someone else will probably know better than me tbh.

HDCopy of Ranish partition manager are both freeware cloning tools but the free options only include moving partition of the same size. As in - if your new disk is bigger the free tools will make a partition of the size of original disk and move all the data, leaving second partition for you to format and use -they won't resize it to fit. If you want to move to a bigger or smaller hdd Norton Ghost or Actonis True Image is the answer.
