Wanna buy a new sata2 250gb hd and use my maxtor 120gb for storage etc but can i just mirror the whole drive over to my new one so i dont have todo a windows reinstall?

Yes, but it doesn't always work unless you use an imaging program like Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image. Also, if one is an IDE and the other a SATA there may be problems.

I have used PowerQuest Disk Image successfully. I have also tried to use Partition Magic and failed. (It copied the partition, but it was not bootable.)

You are my personal little stalker aren't you?! :p. Yeah, I tried to do it with the WD Data Lifeguard thingy but about 3 files didn't copy (apparently not important ones). I booted up, crashed, boot again, loads of memory could not be read errors so eventually just thought sod it.
