Copyright with websites

Since you're both using Wordpress you have little copyright over your site anyway other than with actual content. Layouts etc are always going to be fairly similar and since you purchased your layout this chaps problem should be with the person who created it - not you.

It is incredibly similar though, can see why he's a tad annoyed - have you no imagination?

I'm pretty sure HTML code can't be copyrighted...

Images can, but HTML/CSS isn't covered in the same way.

"Look and feel" could be covered under a trademark, or if there was a serious case of imitation you might get caught under "passing off" - but I'd just ignore the guy.

while he probably doesnt have a leg to stand on, i think you really should consider changing.
it is a big copy of it, which is shame on you tbh :p

That's pretty much what I thought. Yeah, it's from a template, but to be fair, you have just copied his site.

Saying that, though, I don't think he's got a leg to stand on.

The date is irrelevant.

It doesn't like chrome either.
Was gonna say exactly the same thing... especially as copyrights tend to expire 50 years after the author's death, not as soon as the copyright notification is no longer displaying the current year. If they worked that way, then I'd be off to copyright the lyrics to White Christmas, Candle in the Wind and Rock Around the Clock :D

Oh, and I'm using SR Ware Iron (based on Chrome but with all the privacy concerns ironed out) and the display doesn't work properly at all.

I'm not going to get into the legality of what you're doing because I am not trained in law, but you pretty much have a carbon copy of the other site.

Layout, structure, colour palette, rollover images, Hell.. even the background gradient!

In fact the only significant differences I can see are your objects have rounded edges..

But like I said, I'm not going to comment on the legality of it. :p
