Hi all,

Basically I've a file made in PS that I need printed. The printing company who done work for me before need it as a vector file in CoralDraw. My PS skills are limited, my CoralDraw skills are non existent. I've followed tutorials to try do it and I'm going around in circles.

Is there anyone who has experience in Coral that could help me out. If it's a big thing then I understand if somebody wouldn't be up for it.

Thanks in advance
Scott

CorelDraw can open PSD/AI files. Is there a specific format they want the file saved in?

.Eps I believe. I tried saving it as that and opening in coral. It messed up the image. And when I thought I had it, theh sent it back saying it needs to be vector. That it was rasterized image. I don't have a clue as my skills are extremely limited.

What are you having printed, a basic image or a detailed print?

Vectors allow you to scale up or down with no loss in quality whereas as raster image is made up of pixels so you are limited as to how much you change the size for print. I use vectors a lot but mainly for vinyl cutting so generally quite simple uninterrupted paths.

Here's a basic guide on the differences as it explains it better than I can:

You can trace image raster images in Corel Draw or Illustrator but the end result will vary a lot depending on how complex the image is.

You could try InkScape as thats free and has a trace feature, there are some online converters as well but again I wouldn't expect much on a really complex image (for example https://www.vectorizer.io/ came up as first result but I haven't used it)

Photoshop cannot produce vector graphics, only rasterised.

You would need to use a vector based program to make the image like Adobe Illustrator or CoralDraw

It's extremely far from complex or detailed.

It's a rectangle logo with 2 different pieces of texts.

I tried the powertrace in Coral and it distorted the image completely.

I'll try a converter after work to see if it does anything. Its dragging on for 2 weeks now as I've been trying everything.

How is it being printed / what on? T-shirts / leaflets etc

Not sure what it's being printed on.. but its being domed resined afterwards. It's a car badge.

Is my best option to try recreate it from scratch in coraldraw?

Thanks for all the help so far. Appreciate it.

Could well be cut vinyl, not sure but looks like some of the simple ones are from a quick search. In which case they'll need a vector as the cutter just follows the path.

If you created the original and its only a simple image then it may well be easier to recreate it. You might have more luck exporting different elements to trace by turning off layers in photoshop and then combining them in CorelDraw after, converting to black and white can get better results but without seeing the image it is hard to advise.

Also if you prefer working in Illustrator just use that and save as an EPS file.

Have they not offered to convert it for you for a fee?

I actually done it in illustrator, saved it as eps sent it to them and they replied said its still not right. They dont use illustrator so when opened in coral draw it looked completely wrong.

They have offered to do it for a fee alright but its hefty in my opinion for what I can imagine isnt a crazy difficult thing to do when you know how. I just dont know what I'm doing.

I've a day off tomorrow I'll try play around with it. If I can make it from scratch in coral draw then good. But that's another learning curve.

I have no problem sending the logo by trust to someone to advise.

I can have a quick look, send me a link via trust.

Vectors can be tricky sods to convert as they may look fine in normal view but then when you switch to outline view all the nodes have been messed up. It's why a lot of print places put up quite a steep setup charge as the time it takes to setup a small run vs a large run is about the same but a lot less profit in the former.
