Anyone have a recommendation for a home use tyre inflater. I have got by using the Supermarket one's but they are so often broken and I should check mine more! I don't need it to be cordless, just plug in via lighter or perforable mains and accurate readings.

I got one from Argos, made by Guild, was cordless with a battery but also came with an adapter to use it from the 12v lighter - has been great, and had it for over a year. Also has a 2 year warranty.

Argos guild Inflator

hope that helps

Edited long link to something better (never knew I could do that!!)

Wow that’s a long link

This is the one I use. Only downside is it’s a twist connector, though I prefer that as it feels more robust.

I have noticed that with my Porsche, the indicated pressure on the inflator isn’t correct - at least, the car indicates a different pressure to the inflator. This is true for both inflators I have from different brands.

I’d therefore use an inflator in connection with a pressure gauge.

earlier thread with discussion thumb catch versus quick release connectors -I'll get next time, which may damage tpms adaptor threads less.

I've had the Ring RCT1000 above for a few years and it's been rock solid. Mine seems to give similar readings to my separate pressure gauge, but I'm not sure how accurate that is either. At least they're both consistent with each other.

I picked up a Ring RTC1000 from Argos in the summer. It worked twice, maybe thrice before always reading an obviously wrong, high pressure (80PSI). Returned it for a replacement and the new one has worked fine on the couple of occaisions I used it. Aside from the breakage it's a good unit to leave in the car.

I just use a double barrel foot pump and digital pressure gauge. Check pressure with digital pressure gauge, inflate or deflate as necessary. Using foot pump to inflate, usually requires no more than 5 pumps. Saves plugging into cig lighter and running off car battery or engine.

The digital pressure gauge gives me an accurate reading, don’t use the foot pumps gauge. Foot pump has quick release connector too.
