Keep seeing this advert on the telly. Is this a decent package for £219.99?

(I already have this, are the batteries all part of the same system? The one it comes with claims 150m2 but our garden is bigger than that).

When I was looking at cordless garden tools, I saw one of those Ryobi mowers in B&Q. Until then it was going to be my first choice - but I thought it was very flimsy. Did not look very well made at all.

I ended up with Greenworks stuff which I've been very pleased with.

Do you cut your grass weekly or like to let it grow out a bit before cutting?

If you are ever cutting long grass I think you'll want to get a dual battery (36v) or higher like the 40v systems for the extra power of the motor to cut longer grass or slightly damp grass

Yeah, I’ve just been looking more into it and that little one would probably do the front garden but it’s not enough for the back.

and yes same battery system, and yes i to thought they were a little on the light side ...should i say when viewing at b and q

I got a Stihl one which wasn't to expensive. Battery seems to last an age and only time it struggled was when i was trying to cut a little low and the grass wasn't fully dry. They very in price from relatively cheap to a lot.
I've ordered the scarifier that uses the same battery so that's a bonus.

I have the Ryobi (about 5 or 6 years old now) It's fine on my small lawn (40 square meters) Does sometime struggle if you go thought a thick long patch.

Our mower went pop, it was very old. I was looking at battery mowers for a little while and then caved for Stihl petrol mower instead. Solid mower, easy to maintain too. Will hopefully be my last mower.

I bought that exact same starter kit ages ago, mower is light and only really any good for short grass, anything slightly long (ie 1st cut of the year) or damp and it struggles, I eventually killed it so replaced it with this:-

The strimmer is still going strong though and I also have the same hedge trimmer

I have been looking for one for a couple of years but i have so far (Fingers crossed) managed to start my petrol one so just waiting for it not to start before it goes in the recycling. I had looked at the Greenworks one but the deal with the 2 batteries has not come back yet.

Edit: Looks like the offer is back on at £199 inc 2 batteries but they are only the 2ah ones not the 4ah ones. :(

I use the Einhell suite of battery powered garden tools (mower, scarifier, long arm trimmer/mini-chain, strimmer), and find that they're all pretty good for general home use.

I've had that same kit for a few years and I'd agree with the above that it's generally acceptable but can feel a little flimsy/light duty.

It does my front and back garden no problem but if it's wet or very long you'll need extra batteries and/or to do it in a couple of passes.

I'd say more than one battery is basically a necessity - I use the 5Ah from the kit and usually end up switching into a 4Ah that I already had (this is two passes front and rear gardens, approx. 40sqm or so total).

Keeping an eye on this, as I've been thinking of getting a battery mower. My corded is just a bit of an inconvenience (cord isn't quite long enough to do the entire garden without an extension lead & it definitely doesn't reach to the front. Prefer the idea of battery over petrol though.

I've got a few Makita 18v LXT tools, including two 5a batteries. So I'm thinking about going for one of their range.

The batteries aren't cheap though, so if I need more than 2 to cover the front and back lawns, then it becomes pretty pricey.

I use a battery mower, a cheap 40v Yard Force I bought as a test to see how viable it was going to be, and have to say I’m more than happy with its performance.

According to this website my lawn is just over 100m2 and I can do at least 2 cuts on one charge of the 2.h ah battery. As I said it was cheap and just to test if a battery mower was viable but I checked how long I’ve had it and I bought in in September 2020. I didn’t realise I’d had it that long.

I’m going to buy a new mower, a Greenworks 40v one as I already have Greenwirks garden tools and have 3 40v batteries, mainly as I now want a mulching mower since I tend to cut the grass once a week and I hate collecting the cut grass.

My trusted jx90 john deere mower finally broke its drive belt after 19 years. I'd expect a pretty decent bill to fix it. With getting older I struggle now to get it up steps to a higher lawn.
So I've been looking at a 18" mower now, either battery or petrol.
I have around 550mtr2 of lawn

I borrowed my in laws hayter osprey 46 (18")petrol. It's pretty reasonable. I think he paid £440 for it last year. The trouble is & I believe this is with all new petrol mowers, once you release the blade lever, it stops the engine, so you are forever pulling the cord to re-start.
It's completely put me off a new petrol mower.

I wanted to go for a brand that was synonymous with either mowers or batteries for longevity.
After a lot of research I'm going for an Ego mower, as they specialise in battery mowers.
I'm looking to get the EGO Power+ LM1903E-SP 56V Poly Deck Variable Speed Cordless Lawn Mower (with 5.0Ah Battery & Rapid Charger). Not cheap at £600. Cheaper Ego's are available for smaller gardens.

Although it's pretty expensive compared to some I like the variable selfpropelled, 5 ah 56v battery with rapid charger & polymer deck over a cheap steel deck.
Plus I know it will be still supported in 10 years plus for any spares, no matter how small.

Anyone who has an Ego mower, I'd welcome your opinions.
