I have just spoken to our contact at Intel and they are addement that they will be available from our suppliers (And i am sure OCUK's) but i have just spoke to the supplier and they have told me that the 23rd is the standard response for release date but none of thier stock requests have been granted.

I know two retailers that have the stock already in this country....and I can also confirm Ocuk are NOT the first to get them in a certain other seller had their order confirmed at least three weeks before ocuk started pre orders. But they agreed to list prices on day of launch...but ive been advised on launch day a few competitiors who have them now in stock will be significantly cheaper than those taking pre orders.

Hence why im waiting

This is not looking good :( , gibbo you've been very quite regarding all this, do you have any info ?

The silence is deafening ocuk!

Perhaps they dont know? I mean the competitors I spoke to are considerably bigger in size (ie units orderd and sold per week) so it stands to reason that intel will deal with those first. I can only assume OCuk are going on what Intel have told them.

As OcUK is the first company to place orders we get priority allocation which means OcUK will not only be the first with product but will also have more product availability than anywhere else in the UK/Europe.

But Gibbo said that?

Well that statement contradicts what two other etailers, possibly the two biggest in this country have said on the phone to me a couple of days ago. With one boasting that they are waiting to go out once intel authorise it, which was said to be 27th July.

The reason they are so quiet is because all staff on hand are too busy booking in the massive stock of Core 2 Duo chips they just got it :D

If this is true then I'm going on the rob tonight :)

would be nice to see a little money coming back on the intel conroe extremes

He also said,

You can't blame him tho, I would have proberbly done the same thing, it is business after all, yet would be nice to get a reduction on the X6800's tho

Fair enough to an extent...but are you happy buying from a company that openly lies to get your order?

Interesting...

Hold on here a sec...

We all know that OCUK are often slightly more expensive on CPU's that some other retailers... thats always been the case. (Although i agree the prices of the 6800 are excessive). There are other retailers out there with basically the same prices as OCUK and some for less. Its only because everyone is trying to balance the best price and getting the first supply that its getting reported on so much here. I'm sure most of us would pay a little more if we knew we were going to get a good delivery date.

As for delivery dates... Its very hard for us to see whats going on here. Clearly the CPU's are arriving with retailers. One in the USA has even shipped them straight to customers (although i expect they will get thier knuckles rapped by intel). It is likley that supply is getting through and that Intel are insisting that retailers wait for the launch date before shipping. The problem is that there are so many launch dates about.

Some retailers have dates of the 22nd July for delivery, some said the 15th yesterday (note these have changed now). I guess OCUK are sat waiting for instruction and keeping thier date consistant to avoid panic ordering etc.

It would be wonderful if we were told that stock was arriving and told that it had arrived... even if it could not be shipped until launch... this would save so much uncertanty.
If your reading this OCUK is there any way you can confirm any details? Just to know that you have x number and expect x on such a date would put everyone at ease and hopefully stop threads like this from getting out of control.

Maybe me just being naive but I dont think Gibbo or OCUK would do this - all they have done in the past is reduce price on the day of release and anyone who wanted to could claim back the difference

Then if they dont know, they should say so. As I say its deafening.

Edit: and its not just CPU's cheaper, that I can find on the web, its a lot more. Just hope ocuk arent starting to price themselves out, a I have spent thousands of pounds here, but the competition is hotting right up.

Same here, have just ordered parts for 3 conroe based machines all hopefully with E6600's. 1 of the machines was for a 1u server, so only need HD/Ram/Motherboard/CPU for that, for the other 2 needed everything (bar 1 HD). After trying to get the best deals (even after shipping) i ended up only getting ram and the HD's from OCUK (the cpu's ive still not ordered, im waiting to see who has the best price and stock on release day), everything else was from somewhere else, in the past i normally just got everything from ocuk.

I have ordered from several places and will just cancel the orders once one says shipped. the dates are perfect for my CC should be able to cancel before the next bill is raised. Most retailers dont bill the CC till the goods are packed - unlike OCUK i have to point out, who bill on order (something i have always hated).

I spoke to the Sales Dept. last week, all they would say is:

-They have a certain number of pre-orders.

I asked, but they wouldn't tell me:

-How many they had pre-ordered (or even if they have)?
-Weather my pre-order would be one of the first batch?

I was slightly miffed to say the least and when I said thats not exactly how they come accross via the advertising, I was told "well Gibbo isn't in Sales is he"

just wish they would sort out the discrepancies between the marketing and the sales depts and be a bit more upfront with the truth, once bitten twice shy and all that

now as long as I get one of the first batch, everything will be ok lol

Well if OCUK ship mine in the first batch and at the same time as competitors start shipping then all well and good, the majority of competitors I have seen show similar pricing for the 6600. If on the other hand other sellers start shipping first I will merely cancel my order here and take my business elsewhere, I think that is probably the position of most people here.
I am currently finding the lack of comment from the dons etc. a little worrying, I am hoping that for some reason they are not allowed to discuss this and that is why there is no comment thus far.

The rules of the forum are that shop matters are not ment to be discussed... Gibbo breaks this rule sometimes... but really the forum is not part of the shop

As has been pointed out, the Dons do not work in the shop (or at least the vast majority of them don't).

Also please note that discussion of competitor pricing is not acceptable.
