damn these are nice, any word on pricing?

I believe the article stated something like $30 below the E6300 price so around £90-100 for us is possible?!

This would be perfect for me as my asrock mobo doesn't like any fsb above 300 so a 9x multi is very beneficial. (compared ot the 7x on the E6300).

Considering its performance is very close to that of the E6300 it may be a bargin.

Very impressive.

What is great about these is that you can buy yourself some generic pc6400 ram, along with a motherboard that will do 350-400mhz fsb and you are up and away. No longer are you required to spend over and above the odds for memory that will break the 1000mhz barrier. And no longer do you have to have a motherboard that will break the 400mhz fsb mark.

With regards to pricing I expect these CPUs to be priced along the lines of the old Celeron cpus. Probably around £80-£100. But we shall have to wait and see.

wow what are AMD to do? :p

Nothing much, apparently. They seem content to work on shrinking their die making process and taking incremental increases in speed. Since the release of C2D, AMD have reduced the prices of pretty much all their cpus in order to combat the threat of the C2D. It seems rather than make a cpu that can compete in terms of speed (which they cant seem to) they have chosen to fight Intel on price.

I remember when C2D was being previewed, many people talked about amd bringing out their own quad core cpu, however, Ive not heard anything further? Have they canned this quad core cpu or is it still on the cards?

I hope AMD can ride out this storm. I was thinking of getting an X2 3800 simply because I can't stretch that bit extra for a E6300 and every penny counts for me right now. But now I'll almost certainly be getting the E4300 instead.

Talk about kicking somebody while they're down :p

They have k8l coming soon. I hope for their sake its good.

Any idea when this K8L is being released? I remember it being talked about at least 6 months back, but still nothing.

its an AM3 chip ( supporing ddr3 or sumthin if i remember), but also works in AM2 boards with DDR2. this was one of the reasons why the AM2 socket was so appealing. its a shame they have wasted it so far.

I saw one of those articles the other day and it certainly sounds promising for a 2nd (or 3rd) system on the cheap - now all I need is a cheap case and mobo
