Core 2 duo or amd3 for server whats the min requirement for power supply

i was thinking of making a server ...core 2 duo or amd 3 ...only want a low power supply is 300 ok for this or do i need higher thanks...i have bits lying around ...was thinking of a microserver ....but my thinking is i only need a case and power supply...is this a good idea thanks.

I built a server last year with a quad core AMD in a mITX case with a 225W PSU, its running VMWare and has all my server hosts as virtual machines (3 hosts) doesn't break a sweat :)

Case is a Thermaltake Element Q Black mini-ITX HTPC Case with 220W SFX PSU
 
now thats a nice case....looks like might have made my mind up biffa lol...whats the other specs inside your case

Whole thing cost a few pennies over £390 but that was all new
 
thanks ...ill go look into that now...as much as i like the microserver just doesnt seem to be fast enough ...what cooler are you using......is it a low profile one thanks
