Core 2 Duo second core not working?

finished my pc couple of days ago and went to benchmark today on cinebench and only the 1 core option is available, also tried 3dmax and on the cpu test i get 1fps and only around 35 on the gpu test,
intel core2duo e6600
evga nforce 680
bfg geforce 8800
2gb corsair dominator pc2-6400
also i checked in bios and th 2nd cor is enabled does anyone know whats going on??

You need to make sure that the ACPI Multiprocessor HAL is installed for dual core systems. This should be automatically installed and detected during a fresh install, but windows being windows, its not 100%.

Before anyone says otherwise, XP home is quite capable of running dual core processors, and using both cores properly.

done a test thing that i downloaded from windows site and it says both cores are running so dont now what to think

Task manager show two CPU usage graphs in performance?


3D Mark CPU tests, esp 2001/2003/2005 can only use one cpu at a time and are under 4FPS anyway, and 2006 does use both cores but just not very well either.

Same when I installed my conroe, you need to re-install windows.

I think using the repair option from the windows CD will install the multiprocessor HAL.
