Ok so i've build my core 2 system but im worried about the temps...

First off the bios says the cpu is idling around 20c which i thought was great, i then loaded up coretemp and speed fan which both report similar temps, great i thought... then i installed TAT which says its idling over 40c!? and on load using the TAT stress test thing it got to over 70! Someone please tell me TAT is misreading the temps because I cant believe with my setup it can be that high even at stock settings? :(

If i remember this correctly TaT and coretemp read the temp straight form the cpu, the other programs will read the temp from the mobo (hopefully someone will be able to elaborate more or correct me). if your using the stock cooler and with 1.3v+ those temps appear about right.

Edit: just saw your using a tt120, does seem high, may have a concave ihs, try reseating the tt120. Also what volts are you using on the cpu?

at stock speed and stock volts its still idling around 40 and going over the 60's in TAT but only 20 / 50 with every other piece of monitoring software i have :( wouldnt the bios temp be more accurate?
