As most of you know i have been working for Core-Design LTD for a few years now, in which the company has been through a very turbulant stage..

Contrary to what some "Media" have been saying we arnt dead  and im very pleased to annouce that we are no longer part of the Eidos group and we are now back on the independent forum. We are now part of the "Rebellion" group.. (Although being independent Sci/Eidos may well publish some of our future titles along with EA and other big brands)

Rebellion

So im looking foward to getting some feedback on some of our future titles.. especially the ones i work on :P

I wanted to post this mainly becuase of all the negative issues that have been in the press lately saying that we were "Killed off from Eidos" which wasnt the case. They just like making themselfs sounds more superior :)

Which is another reason why we are kind of glad to be independent again.

If you havnt already, pick up a copy of Rogue Trooper its pretty sweet.. And wasnt even one of mine :)

Also if you want some more official information and some information on some of our future, past and present titles then pick up a copy of next months EDGE magazine. (Also has a photo of me in it :)

Free running looks interesting, it could be one of those games that takes off massively like Table Tennis, or is a total flump like scootering. Either way I will keep my eyes open for that!

One thing that really needs work though is that horrible website :D

what sort of games are core design working on

Im not legally allowed to discuss future projects.. But freerunning is indeed a title that due for release soon.. (although its release dat has long been shifted around, mainly becuase of the split from eidos)

Is that the reason for pulling Tomb Raider anniversary edition off the PSP?

Tell them we want a remake of TR for the Xbox360![/QUOTE]

Well thats also somthing i cant really talk about  But it was a very frustrating issue for 1 reason or another.

Ill tell them.. but it has nothing to do with us, as Tomb Raider and its franchise is owned entirely by EIDOS plc and they also own the core-design name. Any future Tomb Raider titles will come from Crystal Dynamics..

Was that the game that was in the news and on PS2 while jump britain was on TV. Showed you all working on it. Or was that a different company?

Yes thats the one.. been a while since i saw that :)

Good luck with Rebellion!

If I understand correctly the 'Core Design' IP remains with Eidos? Bit wierd that, like Atari (if I remember correctly). You think you are buying something good (forgetting AOD for a minute, Core Design has made some pretty good games) but actually its someone else using the name!

Good to here that Core isn't dead. Hopefully a return to the glory days is on the cards.

I will admit, I wasn't a fan of the last few TR games and even Smart Bomb on the PSP I found a tad ropey, but as a supporter of UK games designers I'mlooking forward to seeing what Core come up with in the future.

Next Gen Chuck Rock? ;)

Give me a job.

:p

Seriously though, do you hire graduates or do you only hire people with a certain amount of professional experience? It's a few years before I'll be ready to start applying for jobs but I want to do as much research as possible.

Nope we hire anyone with talent :) Basically if its art related then it 90% down to your portfolio..

If its code.. its down to your degree and maybe 30% on a portfolio. We have a lot of strong links with derby uni and were getting some better courses sorted out and might even be taking people over the summer.. as a kind of "Summer school" for uni and school students.

So.. should be lots of opertunities round the corner.

*edit* what area are you hoping to get in as?

I'm into the programming side of things. I'm not doing a games based course, just straight computer science but I am building up a portfolio with mods and I get to make a significant game as part of my coursework. The summer work would be excellent but unfortunately too far away from where I live.
