Core duo Gaming performance

that review looks total garbage.

the Anandtech one looks to be much more accurate and in line with other peoples results

edit

looking at the [H] Review again, it does seem rather strange that all the CPUs in their test average about 60fps

whereas the Anandtech review gets a much wider range of FPS all the way from 90 to 160

is this because single card solutions get bottlenecked where crossfire ones dont ?

or have they just taken Vsync off ?

edit 2

reading the anandtech review of the 7950. This shows a 7900 GTX (stock) getting 88 fps at 1600 x 1200 4 x AA on the HL2 Ephisode 1 stress test

how come they're 7900 could only get 60 ?

left vsync on did we.

What hes saying is that hes read that at higher resolutions (like 1600 x 1200) the CPU makes no difference as to what fps you get. the video card becomes the deciding factor, not the cpu

meaning that even if you change the cpu, the task is so gpu intensive, it makes no effect on fps

but other benchmarks are finding different results

and frankly, some of the benchies that the [H] review came out with, were just plain wrong. like the fact that in the HL2 bench, there 7900 could only manage 60 fps on all of the cpus, but in the exact same benchmark, anandtech got 88 fps with a fx57 as part of a 7950 grouptest. so conroe didnt even come into that bench, so theres no bias.
