Hello. Ive just had two days induction for a new job in a supermarket. Apparently im a " Core General Merchandiser". What does the core mean? Usually they just say "General Merchandiser".

Oki. I thought something a long those lines. Its a bit cruel to be honest. I applied for 16 hours and they gave me 20 which is good but they changed my job title from Sound and Vision to General merchandiser and and some permanent to temporary

Core GM is the 'main' GM categories i.e. toys, home, lifestyle etc, as opposed to entertainment and whatnot.

To be honest I was more concerned about getting there to do the hours. Any work is work for me

Grocery and GM are different departments though.

GM though also sounds like General Manager, which is certainly a fancy title for a shelf stacker or sales assistant!

Haha! Well I did 3 years in IT and come out with good grades but there really isnt much going so Sainsburys will provide with me a little extra cash until something IT related becomes available/
