Core i7 mobo with ddr2?

I was thinking about a phenom II system but the opening pricing is crap and mobo choice is pathetic.

could maybe strech to a Core i7 system but expensive cpu + expensive mobo +expensive ram coming in at about £600 is just a joke to me

Nope, memory controler is on the cpu not motherboard so ddr3 only (sorry)
