Core i7 Specs...

would be nice to compare similar systems just nehalem with q6600 and q9000 series see how good it scales in game.

gibbo were those benches

2.66GHz Nehalem clocks to 4GHz On AIR

Our sources have confirmed that you will be able to clock $284 dollar priced, the cheapest of all Nehalems from 2.66GHz all the way to 4GHz.

This is definitely a good news to many overclockers and enthusiast but of course you will need a good board to achieve such an overclock.

When it comes to overclocking whatever rating you’ve seen on Yorkfield 45nm quad core overclocking should be seen with Nehalem, and we all know that Core 2 generation was one of the best thing for overclocking since the beginning of time.

Naturally the unlocked Core i7 Extreme edition at 3.2GHz default clock might be able to clock even more but 4GHz from 2.66GHz is definitely an impressive number.

Looks like impressive chip.

It feels like this CPU has been talked about for years! Are those release dates correct on the first page, if not when will it be released?

Bored waiting! ;)

psychas link?

Its from Fudzilla.

Incidently, they also have an article about how it is possible for the Vmem and Vcore on x58 motherboards to be independent.

Fudzilla said:
One of the biggest concerns about Bloomfield X58 motherboards were previous reports that X58 boards will have to use the same voltage for Vcore, CPU and Vmem, the memory on the board. In previous reports, we learned that first revision of the boards had these two things Vcore and Vmem synchronous.

We learned that motherboard manufacturers will be able to separate the CPU and memory voltages and yes this means that you will be able to set the voltage on your CPU independently from the one on your memory.

This will certainly make the overclocking much easier as you won’t burn your CPU with 1.8V voltages that you might need for some ultra faster DDR3 memories. You can expect that next Asus, MSI, Gigabyte board among the others comes with separate Vmem and Vcore settings

Hope the ones on release have this.
