CORE MISC - DREAMHACK SUMMER 2016

I wanted to test the fancontroller, but before that I really needed to do something about the cable management for the fans. With 12 fans in a small space that is kinda needed. So I ordered 4 PCBs.

BEFORE CABLE MANAGEMENT

AFTER CABLE MANAGEMENT

TESTING THE FANCONTROLLER AND FANS

I really like the riing fans.

Are those braided cables made from scratch? If so, what size (csa) cable did you use and where did you source the moulded plugs, crimps etc?

Interesting build.

Hi, I created custom extensions for the 24 + 4 and GPU cables yes.

The wiring is 0,75mm2 and 2,1mm thick. Similar for AWG18 wiring.
Connectors and terminals I got from another shop than OCUK because I don't live in GB but in Holland.

Thank you.

Thanks for the info.

You're welcome.

-------------------------------------------

I drilled the holes to fit the Avexir SSD. This SSD cannot be taken from the system when on display lol. Not unless you break a piece of the 3mm aluminium from it. Good luck to whoever wants to try that.

I also added just a little vinyl to make the design follow the lines of the case.

I was going to fit the reservoir on top of the fans so it would sit even lower. But due to the thickness of the pumptops the fluid level wouldn't sit higher than the top anymore. So I had to mount them to the top aluminium plate. I chose to go with plexiglass (6mm) brackets so it wouldn't obstruct the effect of the LED fans very much.

I am quite pleased with how the gfx cards ended up. They really fit the theme of the build.

It'll be interesting to hear how you get on with the new Thermaltake Pacific fittings. Those 90° fittings on the CPU block specifically look quite interesting. Everyone else (that comes to mind) has made 90° fittings as a square right-angle. I think these are the first I've seen that treat it as a smooth bend. I don't doubt that it will have a far greater effect 'in my head' that in reality - but isn't that where half the battle is fought?!
If nothing else, they look like they might fit half way between a 90° and a double 45° in terms of bend radius - which could be useful for some builds.

Hi Cenedd, the new compression fittings are actually quite decent. Het have 3 orings instead of 2. I take this is because of the width of the tubing (16mm). The 90s wordt quite well. But they are enormous. This again is due to the fact they fit 16mm OD tubing. But they are really large. So in tight corners they are not easy to use. I would not use them in a mITX build :D

Thanks for coming by in the buildlog.

Amazing build, im looking at going for this case... Couple of questions...

Can it just sit on the side and not be mounted to the wall?
Also is dust a massive issue?

Keep up the good work

The case has some feet with it stock so you can put it on its side.
But I chose not to do that in this project.

I think dust can be an issue yes. All for the form in this case :)

Thanks :)

Before I do the tubing all cables need to be finished. Because I cannot get to them otherwise.

Thats looking sooo damn good so far.
I've not see that type of case before so going to be interesting to see what it looks like when finished.

B Negative, Laine and your good self are my primary inspirations, so expect many more "cool" comments into the future :p

That you put my name in the same line with Laine and Bneg makes me feel very good about myself :) Thank you for the compliment.

Thank you Jan. Should be shown very soon.

Started tubing up the system. Quite satisfied with the result.

wow that is an awesome build, (kinda wish i hadnt seen it really) puts my Core P5 to shame haha :D

quite looking forward to the pics of the coolant, as i cant decide between green or orange fluid myself

haha each to his own :) Your P5 is looking very nice as well.

That's a stunning P5 build. I really like the double res mounting as the balance of the whole build is spot on.

Thanks a lot :)

It is what I was going for. Symmetry as far as that it is possible.
It is also a dual loop. So one for the CPU and one for the GPUs.

Yeah looks great.
More like a chemistry experiment than a pc.

haha thanks I guess ;)

------------------------------------------

I started filling the loop / leaktesting and also fitted the last plexiglass grills I made for the bottom side.

I covered a big part of the MSI SLI bridge with black vinyl as it was a big too much red for this black/silver/orange build.

Here are the photos in the dark of the finished project. I really wanted that mirror effect in the glass to also see the bottom lights and grill.

It's looking really good, I like the effort you have gone to with the Star Citizen Misc theme, it would not look out of place if found in a Misc Starfarer.

Just realised that if I sold all my digital Misc spaceships currently sat on my account then I could have built this for the same money.... A somewhat depressing realisation!
