Core no more ~ New 360 'Arcade' sku

Guess they couldn't wait for the Games Convention to kick off. Microsoft just announced that European 360s are having their prices cut, probably to celebrate the late arrival of the Elite console in the region. The Core's now going to set you back £180/€ 279, while the Premium's been cut to £250/€ 349. The Elite, it's new, it doesn't need a cut. It's going on sale for £300/€ 450. They're not done with the announcements, though.

Belgian site Shizzle Games are also reporting that the 360s will be launching with new names, which were first hinted at when Flynn uncovered those 360 holiday bundles. The Elite keeps its name, but the Premium looks like it's being changed to the Xbox 360 Pro and the Core's now called the Xbox 360 Arcade.

To coincide with these changes, the Arcade is apparently coming bundled with a 360 memory card which will be pre-loaded with 5 XBLA titles (one of which looks like Pac-Man). The Pro, if this chart is to be believed, will also be sporting a new colour scheme, having a "silver finish" as opposed to the Arcade's "standard finish".

The price cuts apply from this Friday, 24 August. No word on the rollout timeframe for the "replacement" models.

5 arcade games and a memory card and wireless controller. A much better deal and still £20 less.

It's fake, would you seriously have the black elite with go big under it? lol.

The arcade packaging doesnt fit the others and the arcade looks like it's been pasted in with no attempt to blend it.

Also I believe that core users also get a month free on gold don't they? Why would they remove that?

Inconsistant wording on the table too, I call bs.

That's terrible.

It's probably not fake, the Core pack was terrible so it makes sense for them to change it. Even then though, the hard drive on its own is way overpriced.

If your going to buy a 360 your still better just paying a little bit extra for the Premium.

I think it is referring to the silver trim on the DVD tray.

Actually if you look at the photo that doesn't seem to be the case.

I've seen references of "silver finished" with regards to the premium many times before.

Also the photo in the OP of a white 360 with a silver tray is a dead give-away.

It says the pro will have a 'silver finish' and in the photo of the pro it shows a silver DVD tray. Nothing more to it.

With one saying 'standard finish' and the other saying 'silver finished' I really can't see how they are both white... It does make sense if this is true as it clearly defines which console is which and makes it easier for the 'mum' on the street shopping for little johnny. I do however agree that it could refer to the dvd tray.
