Core Temp 0.95

Playing silly buggers with me too, opened it and it raped my pc and left it in the gutter!

Seems ok though :confused:

Yes, thats one of the changes, E4300's were giving way lower readings on Coretemp 0.94 compared to Intel's TAT. The programmer of CoreTemp worked out why, and changed his code. E4300's have a different TJunct (100 instead of 85), so they were apparently giving the wrong 'too low' reading before.

Coretemp 0.95, and Intel TAT will give comparible readings now, which just leaves speedfan, everest and a few other programs giving the lower readings.

Some people were actually getting < ambient temps with coretemp, which just isnt possible.
 
Updating the bios should have no effect really, as its the CPU that measures the temperatures on these processors, not an sensor under the socket like older designs.

Of course a bios update can change the power profile, vdroop, vcore etc, which can change the temps naturally.

Unfortunalty you cant really rely on the bios either, not all motherboards bother to read the cpu's onchip sensor. Asus boards typically read much lower cpu temps, as they appear to read a motherboard sensor.

Coretemp and TAT read the temp inside the processor, and that will be 15-20 degrees hotter than the outer case of the processor.

Interestingly enough (or boring whatever:P), TAT always reads exactly the same for 'Core 0' as my Intel BadAxe 'CPU' temperature reading, so I guess that is actually reads the CPU's core 0 thermal diode directly, however it doesnt check the temp of Core 1.

Now I’m worried – the latest version of CoreTemp reads a 15c increase in temperature! And, to make matters worse, it reboots my pc every time I start it. What on earth is going on? My temperature should be fantastic given the hardware I am using. What could be the problem? And when should I start getting worried? It sometimes reaches 66c under load using Orthos!

Spec: DS3, C2D 6400 @ 3200mhz, 2gb of Geil Low Latency 4-4-4-12 ram and a Tuniq 120. My case is the Lexa NZXT.

66c isnt a problem at all, thats still within the 'normal' temperature range for C2D, even 70C is only considered 'warm' 80C is 'hot'

0.95 shouldnt have changed the temp of a E6400, as it is supposed to only increase the temps of the E4300 which were under reading. Your E6400 should show a TJunct max of 85 degrees, and no change between 0.94 and 0.95.

do the temps always jump a lot??? sometimes mine is at say 35'c then all of a suddon its at 45 whilst not doing anything?

It only goes up when it's doing something, must be a process running in the background or something?
