Core temp for ubuntu

Hi all,

I can monitor my system temps with the built in applet that came with Ubuntu 16.04 but is there anything I can do to set up an overheat protection as exists in the windows program coretemp?

Sorry chaps,lost sight of this one.

There's an option in Psensor from the Ubuntu software centre that sets an alarm for a pop up if the temps go over a range you specify but I still can't see anything that can be set to automatically shut down the machine if a certain temp is reached.
