Core temp for ubuntu

Hi all,

I can monitor my system temps with the built in applet that came with Ubuntu 16.04 but is there anything I can do to set up an overheat protection as exists in the windows program coretemp?

Set it via bios ?

Of hand can't think of any. Can't say I've looked to be honest

CPU will throttle itself if it gets too hot.

Damn, Am sooooo stupid. lm-sensors ! You can set alarm temps/voltages etc. Also allows you to see MB temps/voltages too

Sorry chaps,lost sight of this one.

There's an option in Psensor from the Ubuntu software centre that sets an alarm for a pop up if the temps go over a range you specify but I still can't see anything that can be set to automatically shut down the machine if a certain temp is reached.
