Core Temp Question!

My understanding is that it is the maximum safe operating core temperature for the CPU. It counts down from 100 and when it hits 0 the CPU will throttle back (frequency/voltage) until normal temps return.

Basiacally a built in safety feature.

as mentioned already, tjmax is used to show your cpu temp. different cpu's have different value's
personally i prefer realtemp as this shows the "distance to tjmax"
this will always stay the same, even if you have your tjmax set wrong.
in my opinion, during stress testing, you will be fine upto 25 distance to tjmax

Stands for "Thermal Junction" I believe. Basicly as everyone else has said, when it gets near it the CPU throttles to stop damage/overheating.

I think on my 2600k the Tj is around 96c total... which is far too much for my liking lol.
