Core vs memory overclocking

In the past I have had cards that would take a reasonable bump on the GPU but not much on the memory.

With my evga gtx 780 ti sc acx card, it seems to be more stable with a core clock of +80 (1230 max full load) and higher memory clock of +450 so far (3950Mhz)

Is it just luck of the draw what you get in terms of good / bad clocking cards?

Luck of the draw, the old silicon lottery. You could buy 2 identical cards and 9 times out of 10 one will clock better than the other, be it on the memory side or the core.

Yes, it's a lottery really, never garunteed an impressive OC. Always good to prioritise core over memory when overclocking too as it shows more gains.

Also worth mentioning that VRAm has an auto correct feature, and MOAR HERTZ isnt always the best for FPS. Use a benchmark to confirm if you are actually getting more FPS.

Both are good memory, Samsung and Hynix.

Yeh, weird. I got a score of 3250 with +450 memory and less with +500
