Firstly, is it worth overclocking an e4300? Secondly, is it the 'old fashioned' front side bus method as presumably these are multiplier locked?

Is there anything I should be mindful of before I start?

Yea you might get anywhere from 3 to 3.6Ghz from them going from my past experience, does give it a little more oomph. Its a fairly warm cpu so watch the temps.. Yes its the old fashion FSB clocking, i noticed a lot of the E4xxx were FSB limited though, for example a board might do 400fsb with a E5xxx or E6xxx cpu but fail to post with an E4xxx cpu.. even if the multiplier is set low (i.e it would be running at less than stock speed) and might do say 340mhz etc..

I had one of these in a Gigabyte 965P DS3P and it overclocked to 3.4Ghz. You won't get close to that on the stock cooler though. Keep checking the bay for a cheap cooler. I got a Akasa Freedom Tower on there for £2.43 and £1.50 delivery three weeks ago!! :D

You can get a real bargain on there if you are patient. Not a lot to go wrong with a cooler either.

Fenrir Titan, 1 day 8hrs sitting at 0.99p with £6 del.
