looking to pickup some cabling for wiring home up and finally getting shot of the wifi network.

max run would be 40m at the very longest and i'd ideally like to have the option down the line of going 10gb but wanting something novice friendly for termination and install

if this isnt the best option for the job can you recommend what is, only criteria i really need white cable

This is 100% internal, yes?

Depending how you are terminating it, I actually find CAT6 is easier to terminate into RJ45's as the copper pairs are stiffer than CAT5e and lie better in the connector, certainly if you're using the through-connectors that are very popular at the moment. There is probably very little in it if you're punching down the connections into keystones or a patch panel.

I would never install CAT5e simply because it's not technically rated for 10GbE, so what works on one CAT5e might not on another. White CAT6 seems incredibly expensive compared to the black external stuff I would normally spec for everything.

All that said, I'm ChrisD is correct and you'll have no issues with it. Just make sure to buy everything matching - CAT5e cable, CAT5e patch panel, CAT5e sockets/keystones, CAT5e RJ45's and you'll have no issues with a little bit of practice. Leave yourself PLENTY of cable so you can cut the connector off and make it again when it doesn't work the first 3 times! ;)
