Hi,
Need some help with my hard drive, basicly ive got a 160gb ide hard drive on which i have windows/apps and im using a sil 3112A sata pci card and have a 250gb Hitachi Deskstar connected to it, which i'm using for data, this was fine until the other day when i came home from work to find my pc crashed, so i restarted my machine and it did the usual booting process upto where the windows xp logo appears and after this when the mouse pointer should appear it just goes black and hangs.
If i remove the hard drive and just boot with the sata card in its fine, so ive tried updating my drivers with no luck, ive now connected it to my other pc and it has no problem booting to windows but the drive dosent show up, if i go to my computer and click on manage i can see the drive and it has ahazard icon on it,

any ideas how i can go about fixing this and getting my data back or if that not possible just getting my drive working again.

any help would be much appreciated :)

thanks.

Is the IDE drive detected in Disk Management at all?

It sounds more like data corruption than a hardware issue but it might be a good idea to try the drive manufacturers diagnostics - there are links in the sticky at the top of the forum.
