Corruption

In corruption matters,we beat you Brits, any day of the week:D

Portugal is one of,if note the most, political corrupt system of Europe

we have a PM who everybody knows have made a small fortune from bribery ,mostly for licensing public works

we are masters about it:D

this guy is being investigated about the Freeport case since 2005,and yet he remains in the prime minister position;)

problem is that the Justice system here is also corrupt at least the same way as politics:mad:

statement from a British who have lived for some time in Algarve:

“Having just returned from living in the Algarve for the past 18 months I can confirm that the country is on it’s backside, Brits are coming back because business are closing down or collapsing. The hundreds of millions of euros they have received from Brussels over the last 5 years apart from a couple of new motorways goes straight into the pockets of all those concerned. It is still a police state, everything is controlled by Lisbon, corruption is like a cancer in Portugal, the Police can stop you any time with out any reason and just find something to fine you on, they have a card machine in the boot of their cars to take all card payments. We got 160 on the spot fine at airport because of tyres being 175 instead of 180, a 60 euros fine pulling over 50 yards after a crossing, 600 fine for not carrying insurance and mot in car, and this is all cash on the spot, nice racket. They are sent to the Algarve from Lisbon every summer to get money from tourists. Hard times ahead for them.

tbh, if your job had these 'perks' available, you'd take full advantage of them.

the fact that they can do these things is a joke.

it's like giving a box of dog biscuits to a dog.. it'll just munch up anything that it can. :)

there should be someone controlling the dog biscuit allocation :p

There's only one man for the job.

Wow, I weren't expecting those replies!!!haha, I guess we will just have to agree to disagree! Whats wrong with everyone being more equal in society? Who said anything about Hobo's? It is you guys who speak like the 16 year old not I, in your blinkered, so-obvious retorts to my views. Of course you are not willing to ever listen as like I said 'you are doing very nicley thankyou' and you like to think of yourselves as being "better" than people merely because you have more wealth/material possessions.
Thanks for your replies.

Animal Farm.

:)

£400 a month on food isn't something I really have a problem with. Slightly under £100 a week, around £14 a day. Could be worse.

If they are clever enough to realise what is being offered, then they should obvi be promoted for extreme craftiness :) .

But in the future the government should build a big MP centre so they don't need a second home.

£100 a week for 1 person, and only while doing MP business is a lot - this is not supposed to be for family shopping

I still don't think it is grossly over the top. They shouldn't have food paid for them, but I imagine even if they were paying out of their own pockets most would spend around £3-400.

I think they should make a big "hotel" where MPs can take residence whilst in office
Yeah, its called Travel Lodge.
Some people can't afford to buy a packet of sweets for their kids while MPs on 6 figure salaries use tax payers money to buy garden plants or put up fake timber beams.
Disgusting.
