Corruption

Yeah, its called Travel Lodge.
Some people can't afford to buy a packet of sweets for their kids while MPs on 6 figure salaries use tax payers money to buy garden plants or put up fake timber beams.
Disgusting.

Very few MPs are on 6 figure salaries. Only the PM, Cabinet Members, Speaker, and around 7 others receive 6 figure salaries. I appreciate that is beside the point though. Your average MP is on around £65k. The fake timber beams and garden plant claims and those similar should be stopped but someone not being able to buy their kids a pack of sweet is totally irrelevant and I feel sorry for the kid, not the parents who I would guess are either irresponsible with their money, were not in a suitable position to bring a child into the world, or are on benefits. That's not even as sweeping a generalisation as people are making saying all politicians are corrupt.

Why is it thats these politicians can get away with this?
Surely this counts as embezzlement or at least threat?
If i was to do this at work i'd be arrested and spend the next 3 years behind bars.
What we need is a independent commission like the ipc that the mps have to prove the need for the expensives and can bring legal action against thoses who are thieving.
Also their on a average wage of £73k and they need expensive s thats nearly 3 times my pay and i don't get transport expensives or rent expensives?

I think the government has forgotten who they work for and need a quick reminder with a few arrests.

Independent commission is the best way forward to both set the rules, and oversee them.

In the vast majority of the cases there are no fradulent claims. Whilst people may disagree vociferously with the claims, the bottom line is most were within the guidelines so any legal action would prove futile.

Surely being able to set your own pay; with no oversight; is illegal under some law in the UK?

How about claiming benefits for a house you don't actually live in?
Surely thats benefits fraud?

Claiming a second home allowance for when they are not living in the home is outwith the guidelines. Whether or not it is illegal, I doubt it actually is. If you handed in a fradulent expenses claim to your employer would they call the police? No. You would more than likely be subject to internal disciplinary measures and be asked to repay the money, which is what should happen to the MPs.

Hmm, or in are government hidden away.
Any one else think this country needs to copy the French way to show disapproval of the government, and start protests that bring the city to it needs.
Because from my point of view the government seems to think we work to pay them to do what ever the hell the like! Whilst treating the entire population like insolent children.

Internal discipline within government is actually quite strong. This will not be allowed to be hidden away.

I don't think we should go the way of the French, no.

re: neomarxism

Capitalism is the exploitation of the majority for the benefit of the minority under the guise of freedom.

Capitalists dont want freedom. If they could, they would have us all as slaves (better profit margins) the only reason they dont is because we would revolt (and have in the past)

Very true, but what do you suggest we build a great city under the sea?
Cos last time i checked that didn't turn out to well....

As long as people judge their worth by their pay, change will never happen.

(and i'd like to point out the irony of your sit back and let everyone else do the work statement)

So we have a government that is on the take ,bail out banks , property developers etc.. yet we have 5 million or more on the council housing waiting lists, makes it harder for councils to build new social housing unless its shared ownership, soon youll hear about deal between mps and developers. This govenment has turned this country into one big dumping ground, expecting the working class to pay for everything.

If labour win the next general election then God help us all. I think they are going to get a good kicking in the next election like the conservatives in 1997, then it will be another 18 years before they get in again, rinse and repeat.

Latest polls put labour at 27%, with the conservatives 16 ahead.
